ongoing & upcoming projects

Jonathan is founding lead singer of the disco-pop synth band DONNA. This band is known for it's killer operatic vocal styles, shredding guitar licks, and deep synth grooves. The band has played extensively in Toronto at historic indie-music venues such as Rivoli, Gladstone, Supermarket and the Piston as well as live shows at Pride Toronto. The band has released two singles: one audio and one video-single release directed by Mohammad Rezaei. The band is in pre-production for their debut album set to be released in 2021.

A frequent collaborator of artist Jeremy Dutcher, Jon has performed live on-stage at such historic events such as the Juno's and Polaris Prize where Jeremy's album Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa took home both major prizes and received great critical acclaim.

Jonathan is the co-creator of the ensemble Charsu, a quartet that focuses on new compositions, particularly Iranian and Canadian music, and the music composed by those affected by the diaspora of Iranians. The quartet is made whole with members Asal Iranmehr (piano), Anoush Ta'baï (clarinet) and Dobrochna Zubek (cello).

Jonathan is Artist in Residence with FAWN Chamber Creative. He has been a member of the company for nearly five years and has been a part of countless performances of New Music that range in levels of experimentation, improvisation, and unorthodox locations. With FAWN, he is often working with electronics, amplification, extended technique and directly with the composer.
